NAPW Los Angeles Local Chapter Hosted Marketing Expert Ruth Klein who Shared De-stressing and Life/Balance Tips at August Breakfast Networking Event

Members and guests of the Los Angeles Local Chapter came together for a networking breakfast meeting at Factor's Deli. Extra tables and chairs had to be requested to accommodate all who attended the August 15th event. Attendees were treated to an informative presentation by Ruth Klein, Author/Speaker/CEO of The Marketing Time Source, who kept their attention with tips and advice on finding that elusive but important balance between work and family.

NAPW Los Angeles Local Chapter President Ruth Garcia-Corrales welcomed the members and guests to the breakfast, remarking along with other members, on the wonderful mix of women who were present. From the colorful outfits they wore, to their eclectic nationalities, to their varied professions, there was a wonderful feeling of unity in the room.

"If we could see it, I'm sure there really was a rainbow aura glittering above us in that room. It was member Daisy Marks who used that word to describe the unity we were," said Chapter President Ruth Garcia-Corrales.

One by one, members and guests briefly introduced themselves, sharing the passion and commitment they have for their professions with all. After introductions were made, Ruth Klein got up to speak and immediately captured the attention of the Los Angeles Local Chapter members and guests.

"Capped by Ruth Klein's riveting talk, we were, by each other and by Ruth, spiritually and practically touched, moved, inspired, maybe even shifted, and definitely empowered!," said the Chapter President.

A Branding Strategist and Productivity Coach, Ruth received her Master in Spiritual Psychology from Santa Monica University. Ruth assists entrepreneurs by bringing their gifts to the world through branding, marketing, and publicity, helping them to make the money they deserve. Ruth mentioned her upcoming seminar titled, "Charging What You're Worth and Getting It!"
Ruth began her presentation by talking about stress, something most women in the audience were able to identify with. Stress is also the subject of two of her six published books.

"Number one and two on the list of what affects women the most are inextricably combined: stress, there's too much of it, and time, there isn't enough of it," said Ruth, who noted that both negatively affect women's health. In fact, she said, women suffer 80% more heart attacks than men.

The presentation was informative and interactive and NAPW Lost Angeles Chapter members and guests had the opportunity to talk about the stresses and challenges in their own lives. Problems such as communicating with others, the challenge of dealing with children and their busy schedules, rebellious teens, and financial issues were all touted as top stress inducers. Ruth t women's coats hen pointed out how women are often reluctant to ask for help.

"Even lawyers, even doctors, even I, who used to think I could do everything myself and know everything, now, realizing that very issue, I always asks for help. Assistance is always one request away," she told the crowd.

Ruth then spoke about sabotage and the many ways people play the saboteur by procrastinating, taking on more than they can do.

"We get stuck and overwhelmed from all that. We don't ask for help; the list goes on and on," she said.

Members shared some of their thoughts on managing stress. Daisy Marks talked about how the new hi-tech world is the 'new stressor' and Lisa-Catherine Cohen quoted Dr. Phi who said, "You can't give what you don't have."

To help deal with all of life's stresses Ruth suggested to the audience that they use percentages to help them de-stress: 30% me-time, 50% family, and the rest is spent on work. Those percentages, of course need to be flexible.

"It is a balancing act, but if we can do it carefully, stress is reduced and everyone is happier, healthier, and easier going," said Ruth. "Notice who you're hanging out with, and rather than the blamers and shamers, the poor-me victim-thinkers, the angry grudge-holders, choose instead to hang with positive, successful people! Like the members of NAPW!" said Ruth.

To wrap up, Ruth invited everyone to join her for a picnic at the second-last summer concert on Santa Monica Pier August 30that 6pm. Bring chairs, pillows, blankets, food , and drink (plastic only, no glass containers allowed and no alcohol). Park at her place at 101 Ocean Avenue and then walk to the pier, early enough to stake out a good spot. Guide To Tasting Wine

One helpful strategy an aspiring wine taster can pursue is tasting with a friend that has superior knowledge. Questions can be addressed, and you will quickly become comfortable with this unnecessarily intimidating subject.

Another important strategy for a beginning wine taster is to taste several wines side-by-side that share at least one common variable. This could be the varietal, style, AVA of origin, or any combination of the three.

Tasting blind will minimize any prior opinions or stereotypes. You may be surprised to discover that less-expensive wines are more pleasing to you.

The Essentials of Tasting Wine

It is imperative that you taste in spotlessly clean glasses. The most common contaminants in unclean glasses are invisible molecules left behind by cleaning products. Even high-end restaurants can be guilty of this faux pas. It is best to thoroughly hand wash glasses with unabrasive soaps and hot water.

It is beneficial, but women's coats online not necessary to use varietal-specific glasses when tasting wine. Research has shown that the shape of glasses really does make a difference in the sensory experience.

Overview of the Tasting Process

Wine tasting employs much more than just the taste buds, although they are very important. Your palate is a term for how taste buds on your tongue translate particular flavors to your brain. The palate can perceive only four basic flavors: sweetness, sourness, saltiness, and bitterness. Most of the subtle flavor components of wine are actually picked up by one's sense of smell.

Although many of our daily perceptions are unconscious, making a concerted effort to pay attention to several things makes the tasting process more educational and rewarding. Despite the mystique that surrounds many wine "experts", tasting wine can be broken into simple steps. Wine knowledge usually stems from practice and confidence, not any inherent superiority.

Of course, some people have more developed senses than others. An extreme example is Robert Parker, widely regarded as the most influential wine critic in the world. Mr. Parker's tasting ability is derived from his natural ability to be keenly aware of his senses.

It is within the grasp of the vast majority of people to confidently differentiate varietals, styles, flavor profiles, and flaws when tasting wine. Tasting wine requires not only a grasp of your senses, but also the ability to articulate (with the proper vernacular) your thoughts about a particular wine.

Relevance of Sight in Tasting Wine

Your sense of sight will reveal a lot about a particular wine before smelling and tasting it. Immediately after pouring, check to see how clear the wine is. While haziness may simply indicate a full-bodied, unfiltered red wine, in any other style it is usually cause for concern. Wines will often taste the way that they look (an unrefined look may indicate a clumsy, unfocused wine).

Viewing the color of the edge of a wine in a glass will give you an indication of its maturity (or lack thereof). Mature, aged-worthy reds will have a deep crimson, or even brownish look. Too much brown usually means that the wine is past its prime. the rim of a white wine will generally be light yellow in youth, and and progress to an amber color with age.

After your initial visual impressions, swirl the wine in your glass. While this may be tricky at first, you will pick it up quickly. This reveals the "legs". The more wine sticks to the side of a glass, the higher the alcohol content.

The Role of the Sense of Smell During Wine Tasting

As mentioned earlier, many of the subtle "tastes" of wine are actually perceived by your sense of smell. While there are only four perceptible tastes, there are thousands of different scents. Revealingly, sinus congestion will stop even the most experienced and accomplished wine taster in his/her tracks. Smell is perceived through the upper nose as well as through the back of the throat. Molecules of different scents are registed by the olfactory bulb in the sinuses.

Before smelling a wine, swirl the glass again to reveal the aroma. When smelling a wine, attempt to put any familiar aromas into the context of previous tastings. This is the fundamental basis for increasing your knowledge of tasting wine.

After smelling the wine, the majority of registered perceptions occur very quickly. Sense of smell is very delicate and easily overwhelmed. Smelling the same thing repeatedly becomes less and less revelatory in rapid succession. If you do not immediately pick out the array of aromas in a wine, relax for a minute or two, then try again.

The Actual Tasting Begins

After experiencing the aroma of a wine, it is logically time to taste. Swirl the wine once more, and then swallow a small sip. After your initial impression, take a slightly larger sip and make an effort to coat your entire mouth. This is called, "chewing" the wine. Before swallowing, aerate the wine in your mouth. While this makes a slightly strange sound, the enhanced flavors and aromas that are released are more than worth it.

Another important component in the tasting process is touch, or how the wine feels in your mouth. Major variables to be aware of are the body of the wine, serving temperature, and astringency. The body of a wine includes the depth of flavor and alcohol content. If these components are underrepresented, a wine will taste dilluted.

Serving temperature is an important variable that mainly hinges on the varietal(s) that compose a particular wine. A crisp Sauvignon Blanc will taste flat at room temperature, and should be chilled. On the contrary, a well-aged Cabernet Sauvignon will not reveal its true complexity when served too cold. The incorrect serving temperature for a wine will adversely affect both the aroma and flavor.

Astringency is basically a synonym for bitterness, and is caused by excessive or unmellowed tannins. Great red wines often taste astringent in their youth, but develop into opulent masterpieces when mature.

I hope that you believe that proper wine tasting skills are within your reach; because they certainly are. Mankind's ancient enjoyment of wine is largely derived from the fact that our senses, feelings, and preferences are the basic components of what makes us human.

Make Your Own Natural House Cleaning Products

Instead of looking in the cleaning products aisle for powders, liquids, sprays and pastes to get your home clean, hygienic, smelling nice and looking shiny, why not look in your pantry or kit women's jackets chen cupboards? Making your own natural home cleaning products is an excellent way to reduce the amount of toxins in your household environment (some proprietary cleaners are really nasty), which is good for the environment, your skin and your health. And natural house cleaning products are often cheaper, too!

Most natural cleaning products use a range of basic ingredients combined in different ways - these are must-haves on your shopping list, and not just because you can scrub up your house with them. Some of them you can eat. Essential oils are other common ingredients listed in recipes for natural cleaners. While these are often included for their pleasant scent, they also have disinfectant and antiseptic properties. Recipes often list specific essential oils, but feel free to mix and match as you need - often, one fresh-smelling essential oil with antiseptic properties (e.g. pine or lemon) can be substituted for another (lavender or eucalyptus). Natural cleaning products often call for soap or soap flakes. If you can't find pure soap flakes in your supermarket, you can make your own by grating a bar of cheap soap with as little extra this and that (e.g. fragrance) as possible - or even try making your own. Alternatively, you can try the penny-pinching method of saving thin slivers of bar soap and melting or grating these to make your own cleaning products.

Some basic recipes:

General cleaning paste (non-scratching):

* 1 cup soap flakes
* 2 cups powdered chalk or diatomaceous earth (try a sports shop - chalk is used by gymnasts and diatomaceous earth is used in swimming pool filters)
*1 cup bicarbonate of soda (baking soda)
* 6 T glycerine.

Pulverise the soap flakes to powder in a blender or with a pestle and mortar. Mix in the baking soda and chalk, then add in the glycerine to make a thick paste. It won't look pretty, but it does a great job. Store in a wide screw-top jar to keep it from drying out.

Glass cleaner:

* 1 cup vinegar
* 1 cup methylated spirits, isopropyl alcohol or strong spirits (e.g. vodka)
* 1 t lavender essential oil

Pour all ingredients into a pump-action spray dispenser. Shake together for a minute or so. This can be used straight away, or it can be left to sit for a week to allow the essential oil to blend thoroughly with the alcohol and vinegar. Spray onto glass and wipe off with a soft lint-free cloth or scrunched up newspaper. The essential oil will help kill mould spores and germs. This mixture can also be used as a disinfectant, as the essential oil and alcohol are strong germ-killers.

Odour-absorbing fridge cleaner:

* 1 cup baking soda
* 10 drops essential oil of your choice (suggested: lemon or grapefruit)
* water to mix Combine the baking soda and the essential oil. Add enough water to make a stiff paste. Rub on with a soft cloth, then rinse off with a clean, damp cloth.

Brass polish:

* 1 cup ordinary table salt
* vinegar to mix

Combine the salt with enough vinegar to make a stiff paste. Coat the brass with the paste, then leave it to work for about five minutes. Rub off with a soft damp cloth, using a little elbow grease as needed.

Fabric softener:

* 1 cup vinegar
* 10 drops essential oil (optional)

Combine the vinegar and essential oil and shake together well. Add to the final rinse. This mixture not only adds a delicate scent to the washing as well as softening the fabric.

Lavender is a traditional scent for adding to laundry and acts as a moth repellent. This recipe will help prevent nappy rash if added to a load of cloth nappies, as the vinegar neutralises the rash-causing ammonia in urine.

Pre-wash soaking treatment

* 2 cups soap flakes
* ? cup glycerine
* 2 t essential oil of eucalyptus (in this recipe, you cannot substitute this for another type, as eucalyptus oil has stain-removing properties)
* hot water (about 1 ? litres)

Add the glycerine and soap flakes to the hot water and stir together. When it cools, it will form a grey-white translucent gel. Add the essential oil once the mixture has cooled. Store in a screw-top jar or bottle. To use, add about half a cupful to a bucket of lukewarm water (not hot) and soak stained items overnight. Alternatively, rub a tablespoon or so into the stained area and leave it to work for about an hour before washing the item.

Rotational Molding - Seamless Manufacturing Method for Millions of Products

There are so many common products we take for granted in everyday life. While it's true that many urban kids don't know that milk comes from cows or what a real wheat field looks like, the same is true for manufactured products that are mainstream to life in America.

How about the garbage bin outside your home, the bright orange road cones used for road safety, bicycle helmets and giant tanks used for water storage? Chances are these disparate products were made using a popular manufacturing method called Rotational Molding. What they have in common is a hard, continuous outer shell and a hollow space inside.

The Process
Rotational molding was an innovation of the 1940s, but wasn't widely used until the development of better technology that made the process faster. In addition, new polymer and plastic products entered the marketplace and were well suited for rotational molds. This method of molding plastics has several advantages over some other techniques which result in higher prices for products and a less environmentally friendly process.

The first step in producing a lightweight and affordable polyethylene (plastic) product is to create a mold. This is usually done using a computer software program capable of creating three dimensional images. The mold is most often made of aluminum because the lightweight material is easier to handle than some other metals although it may be a bit more costly. Machinists get to work tooling the mold from the design. Once the mold is done, the rest of the process is in the hands of the plastics manufacturer where the rotational molding is done.

Here's where some imagination is required. Picture the ride at the State Fair where a person is strapped into a kind of gyroscope that turns them up, down, sideways and around. That's what will happen to the mold. But first, the manufacturer measures polymer resin, a granular powder, and pours it into the mold. The mold is fitted into place in an oven that's heated to an appropriate temperature. Inside the oven, the mold makes its axial turns, spreading the grains of polymer evenly over the inner surface of the mold.

As the aluminum quickly heats up, the resin melts and continues to coat the inside of the mold. The time the mold spends spinning and heating is critical to the quality of the product. In the past it was up to the rotational mold experts to judge when a mold was ready to remove from the oven and cool. Today, sensitive instruments gauge the air temperature in the mold, improving quality control.

Fans are often used to help the mold cool. Unlike some other mold methods - such as injection molds - the cooling of the aluminum causes the mold to shrink slightly away from the interior of the mold. This allows easy removal of the largest products, such as water tanks. The product is then carefully inspected by the rotational manufacturer and, if it meets all specifications, is shipped to the customer.

Molding Benefits
For many products, rotational molding makes a big difference in the price of a product and in its durability. The manufacturing process does not require lots of interlocking and moving parts. Therefore, maintenance is minimal as is replacement of parts. In addition, there's little waste of material, a factor that makes the process more environmentally sound.

Durability of products is also very important to manufacturers, particularly those marketing items that will serve customers over extended periods of time. For example, a water tank produced with the rotational molding process will provide much longer service than a comparable steel tank. Rotational molds can be made to any specification or shape, and can be manufactured in less time than steel. They are also very lightweight, cost less to transport and are not as challenging or awkward to install onsite. Of course, a big advantage to molded tanks is that, unlike steel, they women's jackets will never rust.

Next time you see a one-piece, hollow product made of polymer plastic (maybe a kayak or the face of a doll) astound your friends with the fact that you know just how it was done - with the rotational molding process.

Men's Fashion 2010: The New Coat and Tie

The seasons can have a huge effect on formal men's fashion. The heat or cold will dictate the fabric of your jacket and shirt, which in turn will affect the heft of your tie and even the size of the knot. Spring, naturally, calls for a whole other range of suits and styles to keep you stylish in the heat. Here are the essential ones that you'll want to consider once the shops roll out their new spring collections.

Bold Neckties
Now that the sun's out and the flowers are beginning to bloom in full color, it's time you gave Mother Nature some competition. Ties with bold, eye-catching hues are seen as the next trend in neckwear, and it's one that you can safely do even for your office outfits.

These aren't just your ordinary power ties. The trend calls for colors that are truly bold, bright and noisy. Think electric blue instead o women's jackets online f just royal blue, neon lime instead of apple green. In short, take the average bold color tie and make it just a couple of notches more daring. It has to be the kind of color that will catch your attention right away, even when it's among a sea of other colors.

Before you pick up on this trend, though, you'd better have a good grasp of the rules for mixing and matching colors. Unless you plan to use this trend solely with white shirts, prior experience with matching neckties to shirts is a must. A bold tie will work best with a simple solid suit, which will really let the colors pop.

To add even more edge to your style, you could try adding a matching and similarly bold pocket square to your ensemble. It creates cohesion in your outfit by establishing a color scheme, while at the same time giving you an extra dash of rakishness.

Deconstructed Jackets
Of all the pieces in men's fashion, jackets and coats are easily among the most technical because of all the tailoring that they require. For most men, their suits and coats are the only tailored items in their entire wardrobe. This season, however, is the best time to buck that standard.

Deconstructed pieces do tend to make appearances for spring, but only now does their appearance seem more like a movement than a mere event. Numerous designers gave their own take to the lighter, less fussy jacket. The stylish jacket for spring is the one with softer, less defined shoulders and an airy, almost shirt-like lightness to it. It's far from formal, but it will be on trend and spot-on comfortable for the warmer season ahead.

A soft jacket in some summer-friendly color like white or tan is the ideal purchase if you plan to buy into this new fashion trend. Darker hues like black and navy tend to absorb heat from the sun, which defeats the purpose of getting a lighter, heat-friendly jacket. The latter colors would do great for evenings out, though.

This kind of jacket tends to be somewhat wrinkly because of the fabrics used, hence its status as a less-than-formal piece. You can still wear your usual white shirts with them, but the ideal pairing is with a less formal broadcloth shirt that echoes the jacket's laid back sensibilities. Other more casual style pieces like dark wash jeans instead of trousers and canvas kicks over leather shoes are also good outfit ideas.

Don't worry if you can't find a spring jacket that looks exactly like the one you wore in winter. Because it gives less emphasis to cut and tailoring, styles as atypical as three- or four-button stances with notch lapels will work just as well as your winter suit. Just see to it that everything - including the shirt, pants and shoes - that you wear with the jacket will stay true to its light, casual and perfect-for-spring vibe.

How To Raise Kids Who Are Popular With Their Peers

Is it possible to raise our kids to be popular with their peers without buying them the latest must-have toys? The answer is yes. Parents can raise their kids to be confident, independent individuals.

As parents we want our children to be happy, and one of the most significant areas of their lives is that of friendships. Kids love to have friends, and, whatever age the child, it's a delight to parents to watch their children happy in a friendship, playing games, sharing activities. On the other hand, it's not so nice when a child has difficulty either making friends, especially in new situations, or when they have difficulty keeping friends. As their parents, we feel their loneliness, and this can be upsetting.

Children will invariably come home from school at some, or lots of times, in their lives, upset because they have fallen out with friends, have been ostracised from a group, or have been inexplicably treated badly. We want to help, but feel powerless to do so, but there are ways we can help and prepare our children to be popular, give or take a few jealousies that come along the way. Here are a few ideas:-

1. Give your child your time (this is what he wants more than anything). He wants your time, your affection and your protection. He wants to feel loved. A child who is shown love, learns to love himself, and learns to love others. When things are not going as well as expected in other areas of his life, at least he knows he is loved, respected and important at home. A child who is respected by his parents learns to respect others too.

2. Children who are encouraged to be independent from an early age grow to be confident ?€" they do not feel insecure when they meet new challenges like starting school or leaving their parents. Your encouragement can be in any area depending on their age. A small child can be encouraged to make a sandwich, put his coat on, whereas an older child can be given new responsibilities, say, cooking lunch, or finding himself a paper round. The key point for parents is to avoid giving a 'helping hand', no matter how tempting, because this does not allow them the space or discipline to help themselves.

3. A child who has love and respect at home grows to have a high self-esteem. As well as this, give your child the opportunity to try out different activities, so that she can find something she is good at, something she can excel at and enjoy, which will build her confidence in herself and her abilities, especially when she may be having difficulties in other activities, say, in sports at school.

4. A child who is confident is less likely to be a victim of bullies because bullies tend to seek out children who are visibly less confident. In fact, being 'nice' doesn't always work ?€" a child, just like an adult, who sticks up for his values and is not a 'push-over' is usually popular and respected.

5. Teach your child to see things from others' point of view, to see the other side of the story. For example, say a child complains her friend won't play with her ?€" there could be various reasons for this, like she feels she has been hurt, is jealous about something, or feeling unloved ?€" children have complex emotions they cannot communicate to either friends or their parents. It's hard for the egocentric child to understand such things, but you can at least make them aware there is always another side to every story.

6. As a parent, be organised, not just in your own life, but your child's life. Little things, like having the right equipment for school, wearing suitable clothes for an activity, mean so much to a child. A child who stands out as the ill-prepared child can feel unconfident and be a victim of ridicule.

7. When you meet your child's friends, be nice! Ask them quest women's coats ions about themselves ?€" be a popular parent.

As parents you have the responsible and admirable job of mentor and role model to your children, and a child who is strong and independent is well-equipped for the world of friendships, school and, indeed, life.

Plus Size Clothing - Smart Fashion Moving With The Times

When it comes to the importance of the way we look, writer Gore Vidal put it simply: "Style is about knowing who you are, what you want to say, and not giving a damn." However, for many years larger women in the UK have had little choice when it came to fashionable plus-size clothes, and so have been forced to 'not give a damn' by default!

Thankfully, at least some enlightened fashion retailers are waking up to the fact that they need to offer more trendy plus size clothing so that fuller figured women can have a bountiful choice when it comes to defining their wardrobe. Although still in the minority, an increasing amount of major fashion chain stores in the UK are now increasing the amount of retail space they dedicate to plus size clothing. Indeed, specialist outlet Matalan now offers their own Rogers & Rogers plus-size collection offering the absolute latest in larger women's fashion.

Most fashion experts agree that looking good is all about achieving proportion and symmetry. So, even though you cannot change your body in an instant, you can instantly change the way you look by revising your wardrobe. The trick is to highlight your best assets while hiding or downplaying less flattering parts of your body. Get that right and you will undoubtedly feel confident, feminine and sexy, regardless of your body shape.

Plus-size fashion has come a long way in only a few years. Previously the only clothes available were frumpy garments that more resembled sacks or tents, specifically designed to hide the wearer's body shape. Now, however designers are now producing gorgeous plus-size clothes at eminently affordable prices that will appeal to everyone. A well-made, stylish plus size top can transform a basic ensemble into a 'wow' outfit! Plus, as we've already discussed the secret to looking good is promoting good features and hiding less flattering areas. You will already be well versed in which of your features, such as y women's jackets our neck, bust or legs are flattering or need less prominence but regardless, the golden rule is to think vertical. That means you should forget horizontal stripes, hoops and other patterns which will invariably make you look wider.

Also stay clear of ultra-busy prints that make the wearer look bigger. Instead go for vertical stripes and big bold buttons to give you a slimmer look; this works as the eyes are drawn up and down, rather than side to side. But, the look itself is only part of the total picture and you should also carefully consider the fit. Any reasonable fashion top should hug your body, but not too tightly. Plus-size figures should not be hidden, but just like with any size woman a top that is too tight will highlight areas that would make any woman feel uncomfortable. Similarly, don't wear a top that is too baggy in an attempt to hide your body. Show it off, be proud, but ensure that you pick the right size which will show off your beautiful curves as well as making you look classy and chic.

The classic slimming shade is black, but why should you always dress like you are attending a funeral? Have some fun with bright colours and go for colours that will highlight your eyes, skin and hair. If you want to be bold, show some flesh and opt for a low-cut V-neck that has the dual effect of accentuating your bust and lengthening your neck, however, be wary of showing your mid-riff unless it is well-toned.

As a rule, plus-size women should avoid animal print tops as they too will make the wearer look bigger, however scarves with animal prints can be a fantastic addition to a stylish outfit. As we all know accessories add the finishing touches to any outfit, and the latest trendy handbags, shoes and scarves can all transform your everyday outfits into a stylish, fashionable look. Jewellery such as necklaces, pins and brooches can add a fabulous touch of glamour to fashion tops and jackets.

Heavy Spa Covers Waste Energy

Heavy Broken Spa Covers Waste Energy. I saw this advertised on line the other day. When I went to check out the guys website, guess what he?€?s selling? Rigid foam spa covers that will end up heavy or broken, usually within two years. To me this is like a coat salesman telling you wet wind breakers won?€?t keep you warm, here you need to buy this new dry wind breaker and go play outside in the rain.

Instead of selling you something that won?€?t get heavy or broken he keeps selling the same thing, hoping you won?€?t notice. If you have had to replace a spa cover because it got heavy, maybe the question you should ask before you buy the next one is, Why?

What causes the foam spa cover to get heavy is that it traps moisture inside. Rigid foam board is used in lots of insulation applications. It can be used around refrigeration storage areas like in a super market. Layers of foam board can insulate the cool storage area while the customer area can be kept comfortably warm. But in this type of installation the foam is not subjected to hot moist air. As long as the foam stays dry it has a predictable insulation value. But if the foam were to have moisture in it instead of the little air spaces it uses to insulate, it would have no insulation value at all.

If you wanted to produce the perfect environment for a rigid foam board to become saturated it would be to put it over a source of warm, humid, steam. You couldn?€?t get water into it faster even if you tied it to the bottom of your swimming pool. Why? Because water molecules are bigger than steam molecules. Steam can get into smaller spaces faster than water. And once the steam cools, it condenses back into water, displacing air in the foam as it does.

Long before you notice the spa cover getting heavy, moisture has begun to replace the air spaces in your cover. When it does, the little insulation value that cover might have had, goes down dramatically. From whatever it may have been when you first put it on your spa it has gone down to as much insulation as a wet piece of plywood by the time you actually notice it got heavy.

You might get fooled into thinking that it is still insulating well because snow won?€?t melt off it. Unfortunately, you would be wrong. Snow won?€?t melt off a frozen pond either but it doesn't mean the ice is insulating the water. When snow falls on a saturated foam spa cover, it freezes the moisture in the cover because it is laying directly on the cover. The water of your spa is never in contact with the foam since the foam is resting way up on top of the acrylic of the spa, usually about a foot above the water surface. What?€?s happening is the warm spa water is evaporating into steam. That steam is rising, because that is what heat does, until it hits the bottom of the frozen spa cover. Then the steam cools and turns back into water. The water, now cooled, falls, because that?€?s what cold does, back into the warm spa water, cooling it off.

So if you wanted to invent a radiator to cool of women's coats online f your warm spa water this would be the perfect design. Put a block of frozen foam over the water. Load it up with snow so it will keep the spa cover frozen and stand back and watch the power meter spin. Instead of buying another rigid foam spa cover that will positively end up like the one you are replacing now, shop online for one that is designed better. Look for a spa cover that will insulate the water from the water surface, without rigid foam.

Irish Wolfhound Puppy And Dog Information

The Irish Wolfhound is a tall, large dog that needs an average amount of exercise. Never push a young Irish Wolfhound to run or exercise when she does not want to as you may injure rapidly growing joints. She is generally not a good watch dog or guard dog as she is very sweet tempered and loves everyone. Her size and looks should deter any prowler. She tends to get along with considerate children, other dogs and other pets. As a reminder, never leave a child unsupervised with any puppy or dog.

*Approximate Adult Size. The approximate adult size (two years old or older) of the Irish Wolfhound is 28 to 35 inches to the withers (highest point of the shoulder) and 90 to 150 pounds. The female ranges a bit smaller than the male.

*Special Health Considerations. Most dog breeds have certain inherited health problems associated with that specific breed and the Irish Wolfhound is no exception. Be on the look out for canine hip dysplasia (genetic based looseness in the hip joint that can lead to arthritis pain and lameness), heart problems (cardiomyopathy), bone cancer, bloat (Gastric Dilation-Volvulus, the second leading killer of dogs, can kill within the hour, this space is too limited for a complete explanation but you should read up on this). Feeding more then once a day and avoiding exercise right after meals may help guard against bloat, and Von Willebrands disease (a problem with blood clotting). This disease list is an informative guideline only. Other diseases may also be significant threats, please contact your veterinarian for a complete list.

She should visit the veterinarian several times in the first year for shots, boosters and check up. Then, as an adult, she should visit the veterinarian yearly for shots and check up. As she gets older, six years and on, she should visit the veterinarian twice a year for check ups and shots. Remember; avoid feeding your dog sweets.

*Grooming. The Irish Wolfhound has a rough, hard and wiry coat. She should be brushed regularly with a brush and a comb. Brushing will help her maintain a clean and healthy coat, avoid mats and help you keep a closer eye on her health and strengthen your emotional bond with her. She should also have dead hair plucked occasionally, a job possibly better done by a groomer.

Her teeth should be brushed at least twice a week with toothpaste and toothbrush designed for dogs. Brushing removes the accumulation of plaque and tartar which can cause cavities (rarely) and periodontal disease. Dog periodontal disease can lead to pain, loss of teeth, bad breath and other serious disease.

Her toenails may need to be examined for growth and clipped regularly. The toenails of the rear feet grow slower than the toenails of the front feet. Generally a guillotine type trimmer is the best for this chore and competent instructions to accomplish this can be found on the net.

*Life Span. The Irish Wolfhound can live between 6 and 10 years with proper nutrition, medical care and excellent living conditions.

Learning the Basics of Eye Makeup

In different cultures, beauty has been deified typically in female forms. Ancient civilizations worshiped beauty in the face of goddesses like Aphrodite or Venus, Freya and Lakshimi. Over the years, female beauty has been depicted in paintings and sculptures, or praised with lyrics. But, what contemporary people tend to consider as beautiful, or aesthetically pleasing, has probably nothing to do with the notion of beauty other generations shared. Over the centuries, the nature and meaning of beauty has undergone through considerable changes. Even among people of the same age and with common cultural backgrounds, beauty is not an easily defined term. Actually, people tend to agree that beauty is a rather subjective term, which deals with an innate and emotional perception of life's affirmative aspects-health, fertility, goodness, happiness, and vitality-within objects of the perceived world.

Although beauty engenders a sense of positive reflection in finding balance and harmony with nature, whereas the phrase "natural beauty" probably comes from, women choose to emphasize their most distinctive characteristics with the use of makeup, which can highlight their facial features. From Queen Nefertiti, who lined her eyes with black coal to the contemporary female business executives, women have been using makeup to emphasize their eyes' beauty. Being considered the "mirror of someone's soul," the eyes communicate with a unique way and sometimes convey meanings that cannot be accurately articulated. Thus, for the modern woman, who wishes her eyes to make a statement, we have collected the following eye makeup tips that can assist her efforts illustrating her beauty with just a glance.

The first thing a woman should do before applying any eye makeup is to create the right base. In this initial process, a concealer can be used to hide dark circles and create a smooth surface for the rest of the makeup to be applied on. It is better if the tone of the concealer is a bit lighter than the natural skin tone since it will create a much more natural effect and it will blend better. Then, the eye shadow has to be applied in several thin layers and they have to blend well. Experts advice is to put the sheer color on the center of the lid and then with a sponge applicator to spread it all over the lid's surface. It is important to brush it up and out toward the eyebrow or no fashion coats online se. If a deeper shade color is to be used, this has to be placed to the crease of the lid. Additionally, to highlight the eyes, makeup artists use a lighter shade of the same color of eye makeup applied on the lid, now to the brow bone. In order to outline and define the eyes, it is best to use a soft eyeliner pencil and create short, close little dots instead of a straight line on the top and bottom of the eye lids. The outcome can become smoother if the dots are smudged from the inner eye corners toward the outer ones. Finally, for great eyelashes it is advisable to go over the lashes with an eyelash separator comb. Then applying a thin coat of mascara to the lashes and re-comb the ones painted immediately afterwards so as to keep them apart. When they dry the process can be repeated. The final stage of a great eye makeup experience is that of removing the makeup. When it stays on for hours-especially during sleep-it will create a coat of coloring over the eyes and will itch. It is always better to remove eye makeup first, since one has to be very gentle with the eye lids and eyelashes. A cotton ball or swab can do a perfect job after being soaked in makeup remover lotion.

Eye makeup can become a woman's ticket to stares of admiration as long as it is applied carefully and removed before bed every time. Eyes are very sensitive and need to be taken care of as much as possible. Harsh rubbing and being in a rush will not result is astonishing glowing eyes. Thus, be careful and let your eye's beauty shine the room.

Horse Grooming Basics - What Every Beginner Should Know

One of the nicest ways to bond with your horse is to spend time grooming him. While sometimes it is ok to just give your horse a quick dust-off before you ride, every so often you should spend some extra time with him just getting to know him as you groom.

So what is involved in grooming anyway? Most people think of it as merely running a brush over the horse, picking its feet and leaving it at that. But there is a lot more to good grooming.

The first step in a thorough grooming is to curry your horse. Take a curry comb, either a plastic one or a rubber one, and use in circular motion that work with the horse's coat. Currying acts as a massage, easing tense muscles and increasing circulation to the skin. Every grooming session should start with at least a brief curry.

You can use the curry comb over any part of the horse's body that is muscled. That means the entire neck, body and down the legs to the knees/hocks. Don't be afraid to apply a bit of pressure as you groom - the horse will enjoy this as it gives the muscles an invigorating massage.

After the curry comb use a hard bristled brush. The brush should have some give to the bristles. Some hard brushes are too hard and are not likely to be comfortable to the horse. The hard brush should be used in short strokes in the direction of the hair. If you give the brush a little flick at the end of each stroke it will pull the dust and dirt off women's coats the coat. The hard brush will lay the horse's coat smooth and flat.

Because of the firmness of the bristles a hard brush should not be used on the horse's face. It can be used everywhere else on the horse's body including the legs. A hard brush is great for getting off caked on mud from the lower legs.

Finally it is time to take a soft brush and dust your horse down. The soft brush has long, soft bristles that give easily and are great for flicking off the remaining dust and dirt. Use long brushstrokes with the hair growth.

The soft brush can be used everywhere on your horse, including the face. It is a great way to add a finishing touch to the coat and bring out the shine. Most horses love the soft brush and have no problem even in sensitive areas.

After caring for the horse's body it is time to care for its feet. There are two basic kinds of hoofpicks. Basic hoofpicks are made of metal with a pick on one end and a loop to hold on to on the other end. These are simple, efficient tools that cost very little and do a good job. The other type is plastic with a metal pick that sticks out the end and a small stiff-bristled brush opposite the pick. A bit more expensive, this kind of hoofpick has the added benefit of being able to brush out debris that the pick cannot reach and make a cleaner hoof overall. Another benefit is the molded handle that can be more comfortable to hold. Both types of picks are equally good and it is a matter of personal preference which type you decide to use.

When picking out the feet, be careful to remove all debris from the grooves beside the frog. Any stones that are lodged in there could bruise the horse's foot and cause lameness. If the horse wears shoes do not try to wedge the hoofpick between the shoes and the horse's foot as that can loosen the fit and increase the chance that your horse will loose a shoe.

The final touch of a good grooming job is to comb out the mane and tail. While some prefer not to use a comb or brush on the tail if it is well cared for on a regular basis you will actually loose less hair in the long run. If you are not planning to braid the hair you can use a product such as Show Sheen to detangle the hairs and make combing out easier.

It is truly a matter of personal preference when it comes to combs and brushes for manes and tails. You can buy special brushes at the tack shop, make a tail brush out of an old push broom or use a brush you've purchased at the local pharmacy. With combs it is important to have one with reasonably wide spacing between the teeth. The comb should be made of smooth metal or a resilient plastic which is not brittle or overly flexible. Plastic combs will lose tines over time and should be replaced when there are too many gaps to make them useful. Metal combs often hold up far better.

Six of the Biggest Women's Medical and Comfort Shoe Brands

Women's medical and comfort shoes have grown considerably over the years as the incidence of diabetes and similar diseases have risen. Most womens medical shoes are focused around orthopedic arch support and diabetic foot protection and in both cases, it means these shoes are far more comfortable than the average women's footwear. Discussed in this article are the top brands that make either medical or comfort oriented footwear.

1. Drew - Drew Shoes is one of the largest brands focused predominantly on medical footwear. All of their styles come in multiple widths and the entire brand if designed around extra cushioning not only in the sole but in all parts of their footwear. This Makes drew shoes ideal for diabetics and those with medical needs. The shoes can also be found with orthopedic insoles and other features that make them med women's coats ically ideal. There are currently 350+ styles of women's Drew Shoes available as part of the current lineup with prices ranging from $65 to $175 a pair.

2. Clarks - Clarks differs from Drew Shoes in that not all of their footwear is medically oriented, but a large part of their 350+ collection of women's styles is ideal for individuals that need extra cushioning or have a medical condition that needs special attention. While the Clarks shoes collection starts at about $45 online, you don't start seeing medical and comfort oriented shoes until the $63 price range and above.

3. Aerosoles - Aerosoles has a very large collection of styles online with this year's catalog of womens Aerosoles exceeding 430 styles, but as a large and diverse brand of women's footwear, only a percentage of those are specifically intended to provide above average comfort. About 40 styles to be more precise. Of these 40 styles prices range from $35 to $65 a pair. The rest of the collection ranges from $20 a pair to $180 a pair.

4. Spring Step - Spring Footwear is one of my personal favorite footwear companies. Their brands all come from Europe and have Mediterranean styling, fashion, and sizing. They are probably best known for their sandals and heels, but the very diverse Spring Step collection has nearly 600 styles of womens footwear of which about 30 styles are designed for extra comfort and protection. These styles all sell for between $70 and $130 a pair.

5. Propet - The Propet Footwear company is very similar to Drew Shoes in that both companies make very similar styled shoes, both are not purely medical shoe companies, but nearly all of their styles make good comfort/medical shoes, and both brands sell for about the same starting price though the range does not extend much beyond $110 a pair for Propet shoes. One of my top recommended choices for extra comfortable shoes.

6. OrthoFeet - OrthoFeet is a small brand in comparison to the likes of others on this list, but this company has one focus: orthopedic and medical shoes. While the selection is not nearly as big as other, you can be confident in the cushioning and protection of any one of their 40 current styles. All of their women's shoes fall within a rather narrow price bracket of $85 and $115 a pair.

While we've discussed only the top six medical/comfort shoes, there are a number of other brands that contribute a number of styles to this category including: CrocsRx, Aetrex, Naot, Hoopoe, ECCO, Earth, Privo, Antia Shoes, Fly Flot, Easy Street, Arcopedico, Keen, Hush Puppies, Gresshoppers, Gentle Souls, and Easy Street.

When ultimately deciding on a pair of medical or comfort shoes, the key is to pay close attention to the manufacturer's recommendations for each style. Medical shoes are usually designed with a specific purpose in mind and the medical benefit is only obtained when you wear the right style in the right way. Medical shoes overlap with the general population in that nearly all are orthopedically better than regular footwear and offer above average cushioning. Thus, they are a great buy for anyone looking to have foot stress.
